Best of the Web: The Top 20 Links of the Week

It's hard to believe, but the time has come for another edition of Best of the Web, your weekly all-you-can-digest trip around the world of Pittsburgh sports. Inside this week: a heartbreaker for Robert Morris (and controversy for their old coach), a rematch for Pitt, trouble for Terrelle, Pascal Dupuis' entry into the world of food, How Hines Ward Celebrated His Birthday, the sudden retirement of a WVU legend, and much, much more. As usual, we're going 20 links deep, so buckle up.

Best of the Web: The Top 20 Links of the Week

It's a busy week in Pittsburgh sports, with the Pens, Panthers, and Pirates in full swing, and the Steelers making some moves while football's still in business. That means I've got ample material to choose from for this week's edition of Best of the Web, which also covers the Hines Ward Dancing With the Stars saga, a familiar face interviewing with the Steelers, the arrival of the Pittsburgh Power season, Pittsburgh's world-class rudeness, and much, much more.

And if that's not enough, here's a bonus 21st link: The Top 25 Charlie Sheen quotes from his first week of explaining how awesome Charlie Sheen is. Because much like Charlie, this list is a winner.

Best of the Web: The Top 20 Links of the Week

It’s time for another buffet of links, going the usual 20 deep, in this week’s Best of the Web. This edition is rather Penguin-centric, with news on last night’s drama-fest at the CEC and the injury to Brooks Orpik, as well as trade rumors, a new job for a former Penguin executive, and high ratings for NBC’s Pens-Hawks game on Sunday. We’ve also got Steeler free agent talk, an absurd article on Big Ben, a look at the upcoming Pitt-WVU hoops game, and Jason Kendall being Jason Kendall, among many other tidbits. Because everyone loves tidbits, right?

Best of the Web: The Top 20 Links of the Week

It’s time for another round of 20 links devoted to all things Pittsburgh, spanning from Eric Godard to Frank The Tank to the great Ryan Doumit. Yes, no stone is left unturned in this week's Best of the Web, including news on a surprising Steeler coaching candidate, a nice sprinkling of some top 10, 50, and 100 lists, and most importantly, news on the new Dark Knight movie possibly coming to Pittsburgh and how the city continues its long-standing tie to the Batman franchise. You know, all the hard-hitting stuff you've come to know and love from me.

Best of the Web: The Top 20 Links of the Week

It's link time, Yinzers. And we'll recover from a crushing Super Bowl loss with...link after link of injured or disciplined Penguins missing from the lineup for varying periods of time! Great!

Other than that, we've got the Steelers' first loss of the offseason, a famous beard meeting its demise, a guess on who gets the Steelers' franchise tag, an update on the Rinku and Dinesh movie, a new breakfast treat from a friendly Penguin, multiple surgeries for a Steeler, a ridiculous February defeat for the Pirates, and much, much more. As always, my message is the same: enjoy responsibly. Don't link and drive.

Best of the Web: The Top 20 Links of the Week

A big thanks goes out to Hines Polamalu, who takes us into this week's Steeler/SB45-heavy edition of Best of the Web over at The Fan website. But don't fret, I found space to talk Pitt recruiting, the awesome goalie fight in the Pens-Islanders game, and much, much more among this week's 20 links. I must say, that fight was so awesome, it's worth mentioning a second time. That's going to be an all-timer in the pantheon of Pittsburgh Sports YouTube Clips.

This week’s edition of Best of the Web is heavy on Steeler talk, to the surprise of precisely no one.
We’ve got news on Maurkice Pouncey and Aaron Smith, an update on Dick LeBeau’s future, a Terrible Towel hater, a Big Ben hater, a death in the Penguin family, good news for a Pirate prospect, the Pitt non-conference schedule, and much, much more over at The Fan website.

Best of the Web: The Top 20 Links of the Week

This week’s edition of Best of the Web features something for everyone. And by something for everyone, I’m talking things like Terrell Suggs taunting the city of Pittsburgh with his clothing, Antonio Cromartie calling Tom Brady names, James Harrison’s payback for Baltimore, John Harbaugh talking Ben’s broken nose, an early 2011 Pirate preview, the 2011 college football Top 25, an intriguing Penguin question, the retirement of a former Pirate, and much, much, MUCH more.

Best of the Web: The Top 20 Links of the Week

There's lots to cover in this week's Best of the Web link-fest over at the Fan website, including the rumors about a potential Mrs. Roethlisberger, updates on the Pitt head coaching search, a fresh ranking of NFL QBs (always one of my favorite topics), some late Winter Classic odds and ends,  an ugly situation brewing at Penn State, and even some updates on our beloved Buccos, who somehow manage to shoehorn themselves into this segment each week.

Best of the Web: The Top 20 Links of the Week

I've gathered together a pre-holiday bounty of 20 links over at The Fan website, and there are some nice finds in the group, if I do say so: Capitals fans unwisely calling for the Penguins; Emmanuel Sanders getting more looks than Hines Ward; the Pirates targeting what's left on the free-agent market; Pitt recruits having second-thoughts; the Top 10 Steelers of All Time; a new exhibit of Mario Lemieux memorabilia; these are just a few of the topics on our busy agenda - fitting for a day that will conclude with Pens-Caps and Steelers-Panthers dueling on our television screens.

Best of the Web: The Top 20 Links of the Week

I just put the wraps on a new edition of Best of the Web, with some really interesting stuff. How about two Steelers planning to buy the Poplawski house? Or video of Mario Lemieux back on the ice? Maybe you're interested in hearing about Mike Wallace's trash talk of Darrelle Revis? And if that's not enough, there's always a shot of ElRoy Face in the shower to brighten your day. OK, maybe you'll skip that one. But we've got all this and 16 other links in this week's edition at 93.7 The Fan.

Best of the Web: The Top 20 Links of the Week

Another week, another 20 links for Best of the Web over at The Fan website. This week's edition is very Pitt-heavy, with loads of links on all things Wannstedtian. We've also got Pirate hot stove rumors, a Steeler-Raven allegation, comparing Crosby and Ovechkin in 2010, The Legend of Shaun Suisham, and much, much more. Try, just try, to contain your excitement. It's never easy with this much Wanny.

Best of the Web: The Top 20 Links of the Week

I've got links here...lots and lots of links! Because it's Thursday, and that means Best of the Web time over at The Fan.

We've got links on James Harrison and Santa, the Pitt football collapse, Pirate free agency news, lots of great quotes on the Steeler/NFL hysteria, Lebron's return to our beloved Cleveland, and so much more that I can't cram it into just one sentence. Just take my word for it. Cramming is never a good idea.

Best of the Web: The Top 20 Links of the Week

Happy Thanksgiving, Yinzers! And as a pre-turkey appetizer, here are this week's top 20 Burgh-related links from around the web.

We've got some Pirate roster moves, a nude Ochocinco, TO vs. Big Ben, Rashard Mendenhall's new job, and the death of a forced Penn State rivalry. It's a full plate, but you should still save room for pumpkin pie. Just a word of advice.

Best of the Web: The Top 20 Links of the Week

It's Thursday, and that means another installment of Best of the Web, featuring the Top 20 links of the week.

We've got Patriots accusations towards the Steelers, Roethlisburger recipes, Penguins dishing out turkey, Canuck fans ejected from the CEC, Pirate free agent news, a plethora of Burgh-related honors, and much, much more. Consider your lunch-hour reading needs at least semi-fulfilled.

And for your bonus non-sports, non-Pittsburgh link, I direct you to the streaming version of last night's South Park season finale, skewering The Food Network and the Shake Weight. It's a solid 9, and a 10 if you've ever watched more than one hour of The Food Network in your life.

Changes for The Fan Website

As you can now see, CBS corporate recently made some changes to their local websites, changes that trickled down to yours truly.

The respective sites of The Fan, KDKA-TV, and KDKA-AM have all been rolled into one site, as is the case in other CBS markets. All of my previous posts should be moving over to the new site if they're not already there, and this is also where you will find them in the future. The "Mondesi's House at The Fan" feed will be found here for those of you into that.

As for the content I'll be posting on the new site, "Best of the Web" will be sticking around through the transition, and we may be rolling out some other features once I get up to speed on the new system. And as always, thanks for your continued support in making this little partnership a success.

10 Thoughts on Steelers-Browns

Sunday was a rather big day in the life of one Ben Roethlisberger, and all things considered, it went pretty well. Sure, there were a few protesters, but that was to be expected. For the most part, Pittsburgh fans welcomed him back with open arms. A win and three touchdowns had to be the icing on the cake for #7.

Naturally, I have a few opinions on what I saw during Sunday's Steelers-Browns contest at Heinz Field, and for 10 of them, you can hit up The Fan website for a more in-depth look. There's Sad Trombone, a classic quote from James Harrison, an incredibly dumb comparison by a TV announcer, and much, much more.

Previewing the Top 5 Games This Weekend

Last week picking the games of the weekend, I was 1-4. You were 2-3. It was embarrassing, but more so for me.

The five shots at digging out of my self-made hole this week? Browns-Steelers, Pitt-Syracuse, Ohio State-Wisconsin, Cowboys-Vikings, and Ravens-Pats. If I get more than two of these wrong I seriously have to re-evaluate my football knowledge. And I'll fall further behind than the two-game lead that Yinz currently have on me.

Previewing the Top 5 Games This Weekend

I regressed badly in last week's pick-off, going 2-3 and once again falling behind the readers' collective picks (I lost on Penn State, as a reward for the one time I go out on a limb for them). But I'll try to get back on track with this weekend's Steelerless slate of games, including Pitt-Notre Dame, PSU-Illinois, WVU-UNLV, LSU-Florida, and a game I can't wait for, Vikings-Jets on Monday Night.

As for the Black and Gold, I'll consider this weekend a victory if no one shows up on either the police blotter or TMZ.com during their time off. A big victory.
