Monday News and Notes

Catching up on a backlog of links, we've got info on another 1960 World Series party, what James Harrison hunted during the bye week, Lavar Arrington on Paterno, new Penguin lines for today's game, Mama's Family in Greensburg, a Pittsburgh-filled music video, and much more:

The 1960 WORLD SERIES GAME SEVEN "radio version" will be rebroadcast on Wednesday at the intersection of Schenley and Roberto Clemente drives in Oakland for the 50th anniversary of that historic game. 10 members of the team are expected to be in attendance, and Maz is getting a sidewalk plaque unveiled in his name.

Just a guess - how many times has Pittsburgh or the Pirates organization celebrated the 1960 World Series? It's gotta be in triple-digits, right? [PG]

JAMES HARRISON spent his bye week hunting bison:
"It's good meat," said Harrison, who has bison meat delivered to his house, arrangements he said Parise made. What kind of meat?

"You get hamburger, steaks, roasts, hot dogs, jerky. You get a little bit of everything," Harrison said, noting that one bison is "almost 600 pounds of beef."
LAVAR ARRINGTON speaks out to the JoePa Must Go crowd. Any words for the Wannstedt Must Go crowd, Lavar? [Washington Post]

REVIS ISLAND will be open for business tonight as the Aliquippa product gears up for Brett Favre and Randy Moss. [NY Post]

DEJUAN BLAIR and the Spurs will be playing at the Pete on Thursday night against the Cleveland Cavaliers. The winner gets Pitt. [Trib]

CBS BOWL PROJECTIONS have Pitt (as the Big East #4) playing Texas Tech in the Pinstripe Bowl in New York on January 30. You know, just like we all drew it up before the season.

CBS also projects Penn State as the Big 10 #6 in the Texas Bowl against Kansas State, and West Virginia in the BCS Fiesta Bowl against Nebraska. [CBS]

The PITTSBURGH PENGUINS are 0-2, but check out this look at some of their most recent starts before you hit the old panic button. [Pensburgh]

The PENS are in action against New Jersey today at 4, here are the new line combos used in practice yesterday:

Kunitz-Crosby-Comrie
Tangradi-Letestu-Malkin
Cooke-Talbot-Kennedy
Rupp-Adams-Dupuis/Godard

The Pens really miss JORDAN STAAL, writes Kevin Gorman. I'll say. [Trib]

MAMA'S FAMILY is coming to Greensburg's Palace Theatre on Friday night. Well, actually it's only Vicki Lawrence as Mama, but that's about as close as we can get. Bad news for the Vint fans out there. [ThePalaceTheatre.org]

WIZ KHALIFA released a very Pittsburgh-centric video featuring lots of Terrible Towels and LaMarr Woodley. I should've saved this for my next Terrible Towel fan photo post. [Kiss Freak Show]

Out of all of those links, I have one question:

Does Mongovechkin have a tramp stamp?

I for one was looking for some feedback from Penn State Adam after getting pasted by the Illinois Zookers.

I always like when there's one, out-of-place, dorky white guy in the hip hop video.

And Wiz does not disappoint.

Dorky white guy at 3:23 of the "Black and Yellow" video!

Also, my Dad has the Pirates hat Wiz is sporting.

I guess I have to check out the Wiz Khalifa vid at some point.

I didn watch the Favre voicemail video today. That was pretty hilarious.

So was Santonio's quote that he hasn't changed "not 1 percent" after his suspension and he is continue to do whatever he wants because that's how he won himself a Super Bowl.

Just so you know I am no exaggerating:

"I made it to the Super Bowl and won it, didn't I?"

"That's all I had to do for myself"

Would it be wrong if I hoped Holmes' knee exploded tonight?

Yeah, probably...

Nah, let Tone say what he wants.

He's the guy that made the greatest catch in Super Bowl history and brought home #6.

If he wants to continue to act immature, then I'm afraid he'll never be able to duplicate that fete. That's his (and the Jets) problem now.

Yes, he came up huge and made the play.

Not minimize what he did, but he def had the previous ball go right through his hands and also cost us a timeout showboating after he made another awesome play. He didn't elude tacklers and throw the ball to himself, he didn't run an INT back 100 yards. He made the GW catch, yup. But it took 45 guys to win that one, too.

That attitude he has, and the selective memory, is why he will be looking at a one year ban the next time he screws up. From the sound of it, that won't be too much longer.
