BREAKING: Roberts and Laraque to Pens, Moore to Wild

TSN.ca has announced that the Pens have just finalized two trades:

Trade 1: The Pens trade forward Daniel Carcillo and an 8th round pick to the Coyotes for 30-year-old enforcer Georges Laraque (TSN link)

Trade 2: The Pens trade defenseman Noah Welch to Florida for 40-year-old forward Gary Roberts (TSN link)

Trade 3: The Pens ship Dominic Moore to Minnesota for a 3rd round draft pick (TSN link)

Laraque fills the need many feel the Penguins had for a tough guy. He also gives relationship advice every week on a radio show in every city he's played in. Sounds like he'll fit right in.

Roberts first laced up the skates for Calgary in 1986 and has scored 424 career goals, with a career high 51 in 1992. He waived his no-trade clause to join the Penguins.

Hated the Roberts deal, love the Laraque deal. It's nice to be on the receiving end of a salary dump at the trading deadline for once. This leaves a total logjam at the forward position, I wouldn't be surprised if Shero moved out a couple of the extra pieces for a defenseman before the day is through.

Relationship advice from an athlete, that might be interesting. "Go to a bar or a club, have other guys buy you beer all night, pick out a skank (or two), have them blow you, then kick them out. What, you guys don't roll like that?"

you know... seeing a black guy on a snowmobile is about as common as seeing a black guy in the NHL. I think I like this trade already.

hm.... we may look stupid for dealing welch in the future, but who knows? I like the laraque deal as well, but the moore deal, I'm skeptical about. 3rd rounder? why not package him with a draft pick and try to get another scoring winger? owell.

anyway, there are 8 spots left in the fantasy baseball league. We have room for 20 people, so don't be a stranger. If your a loyal mondesi's house reader, think of it as a continuation of the fun! See the information posted late last week for registration info!

I believe that Laraque now becomes the official Jackie Robinson of the Pittsburgh Penguins.

Except, instead of stealing home, he's going to beat the ever-loving shit out of people.

And by the way, I don't mind the Welch-Roberts deal one bit. People who are acting like we're trading away the future for Roberts are overblowing it a little, aren't they?

(Holy shit, I agree with Adam on this)
