MILLER NAMED TO PRO BOWL

As a result of the Colts and Saints advancing to the Super Bowl, 12 spots have opened up for next week's poorly-designed NFL Pro Bowl. Luckily, at least one more Steeler is able to capitalize on the opportunity, as TE Heath Miller has been named as a replacement for Colts TE Dallas Clark.

It will be the first Pro Bowl appearance for Miller, who had a career-high 76 receptions for 789 yards and six touchdowns this season. He will be joining fellow Steelers Casey Hampton, James Harrison, and LaMarr Woodley for the all-star game next Sunday in Miami.

As lame as the process was for getting him there, I'm really glad Miller finally got some recognition. He's been stuck behind Clark, Antonio Gates, and Tony Gonzalez up to this point in his career, so it's nice to see that his wonderful 2009 campaign was rewarded on some level.

Ahhh, just further proof that all these Pro Bowl/All Star events should be canned. Not that some of the players selected don't deserve the recognition (kinda), but if they could care less about it and the fans don't care either...I mean really.

It's gotta make a player feel good to know that the only reason he gets to waste his time in Florida, instead of somewhere nicer like Hawaii, Bermuda, or take your pick, is because the dozen or so players picked ahead of you are either in the Super bowl, injured, or simply didn't want to. Suiting up in muggy Miami for a meaningless game with a bunch of other runner-ups must be the best feeling it the world.

QBs for the AFC: Matt Schaub, Vince Young and David Garrard. This is really getting pathetic.

Moving the game before the Super Bowl is dumb. It was better the way it was. If you're going to move it why not make it in the pre-season. Maybe play it instead of the Hall of Fame game or something.

Where the hell did a picture of Heath playing put-put golf come from?

That's definitely Kennywood.

If players have being a Pro Bowl selection as an incentive in their contracts (do teams do this?) does it count if you are just named, or do you have to go?

If either is the case, there are about 300 players receiving such bonuses this year.

I figure the $ incentive from the league awarded for competing in the game is only available if you show up -- I'm referring to club contract incentives.

They have mini-golf at Kennywood?

Is that somewhat new?

I haven't been there in like in well over a decade.

And also, I didn't really ask where it was taken, just how this seemingly private picture wound up on the internet.
