UPDATED: PENS GET GUERIN

After a few minor deals in which the Pens claimed forward Craig Adams off waivers and acquired defenseman Andy Wozniewski from the Blues in exchange for Wilkes-Barre/Scranton defenseman Danny Richmond, Ray Shero made a bold move in acquiring winger Bill Guerin from the New York Islanders for a conditional draft pick. [From TSN: "The draft pick that Pittsburgh gives up will start as a fifth-round pick. If Pittsburgh makes the playoffs, it increases to a fourth-rounder. If they get to the second round, it becomes to a third round pick."]

Guerin is 6'2", 220 pounds, and 38 years old. He won the Stanley Cup in 1994-95 with New Jersey and is a four-time all-star, winning the all-star MVP in 2000-01. He had 16 goals and 20 assists in 61 games with New York this season. Besides the Islanders and Devils, he's also played for the Dallas Stars, the Boston Bruins, the Edmonton Oilers, the St. Louis Blues, and the San Jose Sharks.

He's got a lot of frequent flyer miles and he's a rent-a-player, but he should definitely help the cause in the stretch run. With the additions of Guerin, Adams, and Chris Kunitz, Ray Shero has quickly injected some toughness and grit back into this team.
