Surprise! Ice Bowl Sells Out

If you were looking to score a ticket to the Pens-Sabres "Ice Bowl" outdoor game on New Year's Day, it's time to call your scalper. The tickets sold out in no time, as the 2008 Ice Bowl blog pointed out. And if the guy running the Ice Bowl blog can't even get a ticket, that's just not fair.

Leafs and Blue Jays (baseball!!??) ticket holders should have had nothing to do with this.

sucks to be that guy who started that blog... imagine waiting all that time and spending the time and putting forth the effort to create and manage a blog only to not be able to score tickets... we should have a suicide watch in allegheny county tonight.

ps.
i got ten tickets :)

i don't understand the appeal of this thing...u get to sit in the cold of buffalo with a poor view of the ice while not being able to flip back and forth between college bowl games...i'm a hockey fan, but i would not pay any decent amount of money to go to this game

I think New Years day was a dumb time to hold a marquee hockey game.

Yeah, THAT won't get overshadowed in the U.S. by the bowl games!

there are worthwhile bowl games to watch before 5pm? F-it, the tailgating alone will be worth the broadcast...

speaking of which, NBC approached the NHL with this idea, as it doesn't have the rights to any major bowl games that day.

the idea behind it being genious is the fact that it IS on new years day... think about all the times you are watching a UCF-Ball State Expedia.com Bowl and you start channel flipping... even if you only had a slight curiousity in hockey you would probably stop on a game that is being played outdoors with the game's marquee player playing in it... plus the fact that it is on new years and the clash with college bowl games has people talking about it, thats free marketing right there... so now they have a buzz building where people are already aware of it and will probably tune in if not for ten minutes
