TODAY'S HEADLINES

Ben Roethlisberger's accuser has dropped out of college, according to TMZ.

The 20-year-old woman dropped out of Georgia College and State University over the weekend and went back to her family's home outside Atlanta. [TMZ.com]

Tim Benz has this shot from the ladies room of one of the bars Roethlisberger visited while in Milledgeville. Glad to see they're taking the allegations so seriously in Milledgeville. [WXDX.com/Tim Benz]

Mark Madden has released his second edition of "Madden's Media Madness". Again, a certain Post-Gazette veteran should duck for cover. [WXDX.com]

The Pittsburgh Pirates were one-hit in a 6-1 loss to the New York Yankees yesterday. Steve Pearce was one of only three Buccos to merely reach base, with the team's lone hit. Anyone starting to see a trend with the offense here? [PittsburghPirates.com]

Club Cambria is the name of a new, exclusive club within the walls of PNC Park. It will be will be situated on the ballpark's suite level, along the third base line, and feature a view of the city skyline. For an 81-game schedule, four seats in row 'A' will run you a cool $48,600. Hey, if you're going to watch a team rebuild, it might as well be in style. [Trib]

Ashton Gibbs was named the Most Improved Player in the Big East this season by a vote held by the league's 16 coaches. Gibbs becomes the sixth Panther to win the award in the last 11 years, joining Ricardo Greer (1999-00), Brandin Knight (2001-02), Carl Krauser (2003-04), Aaron Gray (2005-06) and Sam Young (2007-08). And that, my friends, is what's known as "coaching up". [PittsburghPanthers.com]

CB Leigh Bodden, a free agent who caught the Steelers' eye, is sticking with New England. Bodden was a Duquesne University product and had five interceptions last season. [NFL.com]

Pascal Dupuis is creating a problem for the Penguins, the problem being that he's on the cusp of 20 goals and might be on the fourth line. I expect no pity parties from the rest of the league. [Trib]

CHRIS CARR TO VISIT THE STEELERS

No one will ever confuse the Steelers with the Redskins when it comes to free agency (or commercials), but the Black and Gold will be bringing in a second unrestricted free agent for a visit this week.

On Wednesday, Titans corner/return specialist Chris Carr will take in all things Pittsburgh as he visits with the team. Carr, a backup with the Titans last year, was third in the AFC in kick returns (28.1) and eighth in punt returns (10.1) last season. That's one area where the Steelers have perenially looked for help since the depature of Antwaan Randle-El in 2006.

Carr was signed as an undrafted free agent by Oakland in 2005 after playing collegiately on the Smurf Turf of Boise State. He signed with the Titans as a restricted free agent last year after the Raiders failed to match Tennessee's two-year, $2 million offer.

Perhaps the most unnerving bit of Chris Carr comes from Wikipedia, where an old wound gets instantly reopened:

His first touchdown came while playing as a cornerback, when he intercepted a pass by Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger and returned it 100 yards for a touchdown on October 29, 2006 at McAfee Coliseum. It was the second longest interception for a touchdown in Raiders history and helped seal an upset win over the defending Super Bowl champions.

That's right - Carr was one of the key components in what I would call one of the biggest regular-season upsets in NFL history: the would-be 2-14 Raiders beat the defending Super Bowl Champions, scoring 20 points without an offensive touchdown. I think Ben Roethlisberger's still having nightmares about that game.

So why would the Steelers be interested? Well, Carr would not only help on special teams, but he would provide some secondary depth that's needed due to the recent defection of one Bryant McFadden. Considering the Steelers ended up not doing a deal with Duquesne's Leigh Bodden (another veteran who just signed with New England), it appears that this is a position the Steelers are targeting in the offseason.
