10 Thoughts on Steelers-Browns

Sunday was a rather big day in the life of one Ben Roethlisberger, and all things considered, it went pretty well. Sure, there were a few protesters, but that was to be expected. For the most part, Pittsburgh fans welcomed him back with open arms. A win and three touchdowns had to be the icing on the cake for #7.

Naturally, I have a few opinions on what I saw during Sunday's Steelers-Browns contest at Heinz Field, and for 10 of them, you can hit up The Fan website for a more in-depth look. There's Sad Trombone, a classic quote from James Harrison, an incredibly dumb comparison by a TV announcer, and much, much more.

Greatest Sad Trombone award EVER. Is there going to be a "Lifetime Achievement Sad Trombone Award" sometime? Please. You know what to do.

Well, all-in-all, it's great to a get a division win off a Bye week.

I think Ben was a marked improvement but still left a few throws out there that he is going to hit as the season rolls along.

Mendenhall has been the offensive MVP thus far.

Harrison is certifiably insane, but some of what he said actually makes sense. The Browns players didn't seem to think they were dirty or the refs blew the calls, I guess because they don't have Mike Bitchards as their captain?

Zero sacks is pretty impressive. It got pretty scary on a few of those near sacks though!

Great quote by Harrison. Great mentality. Nobody should want to injure anyone and ruin their season or, worse, career. However, as a defensive player, you should DEFINITELY want the offense to be sore (hurt) on Mondays or else, you're not doing your job.

Better quote by Harrison:

"You hate to see anyone down like that, but then you realize he just went to sleep for a little bit and he came out of it and he's going to be OK,"

James Harrison is not someone I would ever want to piss off, I tell you that.

Remember when the Ravens had a bounty on Mendenhall? Then a guy, who at the very least, assisted in a double murder hurt him? And nobody cared because it was a hit in a football game........ those were the days.

Now we're stuck with wussified fans and analysts like Rodney Harrison making suggestions about how to deal with head shots. He should know, he was pretty adept at giving them out.

I even read a blog of Browns fans talking about how the NFL is biased towards the Steelers and the games are fixed in our favor. Ok, well, TJ Ward did the same thing to Mendy. They excused it as "he saw Harrison do it first". Man, it must suck to watch your team move, then come back, and suck even worse and win even less than before. It must suck worse to watch your archrival beat the living piss out of you every single game as well.
