Eli Manning won't be playing tonight for the New York Giants, but another celebrated QB from the Class of 2004 will be starting in this evening's Steelers-G Men preseason contest.
Ben Roethlisberger will be making his first start since January 3, 2010, against the Miami Dolphins. He is scheduled to play two series or so before giving way to Byron Leftwich, according to the PG's Ed Bouchette. I'm sure Roethlisberger will get a very friendly welcome back to NFL game action from the Giants' always-hospitable crowd.
Oft-injured rookie LB Jason Worilds is also expected to play for the Steelers, while rookie RB Jon Dwyer looks like he's doubtful with a shoulder injury. Dwyer seems intent on testing the limits of the "You can't make the club from the tub" theory this year and looks destined for the practice squad.
For the G-Men, young Rhett Bomar will start at QB, with both Eli Manning and Jim Sorgi out due to injuries. S Kenny Philips will be back on the field for the first time since last September at Dallas, and LB Keith Bulluck will be making his Giants debut tonight. Feel the excitement!
