PAUL MCCARTNEY TO OPEN CONSOL CENTER

So much for the Consol Energy Center's "Can You Guess Who?" Contest, where someone could win a pair of tickets to the top-secret first concert at the new arena.

Yes, that surprise was blown last night by one Paul McCartney, who in his aggressiveness to move tickets to the August 18th mega-event revealed the news to his fan club via email. As of right now, the concert is not listed on McCartney's website, which puts his next appearance at the Isle of Wight, Newport, on June 11. His site indicates there is a max of four tickets per household for this tour, and the email indicated that tickets go on sale later this month.

As far as other announced U.S. dates, the Beatles legend will be in San Francisco on July 10, Salt Lake City on July 13, and Nashville on July 26. But how much will it cost to see McCartney? Well, remaining tickets for the Salt Lake show are running between $172-$253 on Paul's website, while Nashville's remaining stock ranges from $59-$252. At StubHub, asking prices for his U.S. shows range from $99 up to $25,000. But regardless of the high price tags, the Consol Center certainly hit a home run with their opening act choice. They don't get much bigger than Paul McCartney.

UPDATE:

The Pens will make it official at noon and also announce the winner of their contest.
