As most of you know, Forbes.com recently compiled a list of the nation's most disliked people in sports, a list that placed Ben Roethlisberger at #3. Personally, I thought the list was pretty lame, considering that Michael Vick, who barely registers a blip on the radar screen these days, was #1, and Al Davis, who may or may not still be alive, was #2.
Naturally, I decided to seize the opportunity and create a debate with my own spin, namely the 10 most disliked people in Pittsburgh sports. As I stated in the article, it's a pretty vague topic that could go in a number of different directions, so I tried to narrow the scope to come to my top 10. I'm sure it will create much debate, because it's a pure opinion piece with no right or wrong answer, but that's what makes it a unique topic.
For the on-air debate, you can hear Seibel and Starkey dissect the list with me coming up at 3:20 on The Fan today. You can listen at 93.7 FM on your dial and online at The Fan website.

Barry Lamar Bonds?
I may be in the minority (i dunno), but I have no ill hate towards Bonds. Why should we?
I like the list. Was hoping Hossa still made the cut and glad to see him on it.
Think Cowher could have made it some where, but again, I am probably in the minority.
@Burress - He says only active players... or else Barry should be on there.
@Dude - What's not to hate? He obviously cheated throughout his whole career in 'Frisco, was nothing but an arrogant prick in his time in pittsburgh, he usually had some mysterious 'injury' when SF played in the burgh (so he wouldn't grant us the small pleasure of booing him) & his leaving town coincided with legitimate baseball falling off the map in Pittsburgh.
Speaking of which, I love how most of the list is composed of divisional/conference rivals most hated players... there is a not too surprising absence of pirates opposing players for some reason... oh wait. Nutting @ #1! hahaha What a joke that we don't even hate anyone else in baseball? Except, maybe, the Dave Kerwin-hatin brewers? Braun? Fielder? Kendall? We're just not competitive enough to REALLY hate someone in baseball :'-/
Ever since I read some article on realignment a while ago, I thought it would be sweet to have an NFC North in baseball--the Orioles, Reds, Indians, and heck throw the Nationals in there...I never thought it out with the other divisions, but I think it would be an interesting division. All of the markets are roughly the same size, and there is the built in rivalries from the NFL.
Since realignment in '94 i've been annoyed in the fact that although we're an east team, we're in the friggin' central.
Scott Hartnell is #3 and I’ve never heard of the guy…and I read the PG Sports section every day.
No Barry Bonds? No Bobby Bonilla? No Neil O’Donnell or Tommy Maddox?
"He obviously cheated throughout his career..." - just like everybody else in MLB...
@ Scott - for someone who claims to read the paper everyday, you sure aren't good at reading. Try sounding out this sentence again (which i have copied & pasted from the article in question for your viewing pleasure): "I kept this limited to active players/executives, so you’ll see no Barry Bondses or Cliff Stoudts on this list." Besides, i thought Kordell Stewart was more hated than O'Donnell & Maddox put together? Is Bobby Bo hated? Never heard of Scotty Hartnell? I guess you're not a fan of the Pittsburgh Plunderers professional badminton team then?
@ Corey - touche!
