PIRATES SET FINAL ROSTER

The Pittsburgh Pirates made their final roster tweaks before tomorrow's opener, cutting IF Ramon Vazquez and sending OF Steve Pearce to Triple-A Indianapolis.

Vazquez was designated for assignment, meaning that the Pirates have 10 days to trade, release, or waive him. If they end up cutting ties as anticipated, the move would cost the Pirates $2 million.

Those moves mean Rule 5 outfielder John Raynor made the club despite a .229 batting average this spring, and pitcher Hayden Penn (recently claimed off waivers from Florida) will also start the season as a Pirate.

All in all, there were no real surprises among these final moves. It's important to remember that reliever Joel Hanrahan will be returning from the DL soon, so one of the lower relievers on the totem pole will probably be on the move in the near future. But for the most part, these are your 2010 Pittsburgh Pirates:

Starters: Zach Duke, Ross Ohlendorf, Paul Maholm, Charlie Morton, Daniel McCutchen.

Relievers: Octavio Dotel, Brendan Donnelly, Evan Meek, Javier Lopez, Carrasco, Taschner, Hayden Penn.

Catchers: Ryan Doumit, Jason Jaramillo.

Infielders: Jeff Clement, Aki Iwamura, Ronny Cedeno, Andy LaRoche, Bobby Crosby, Delwyn Young.

Outfielders: Lastings Milledge, Andrew McCutchen, Garrett Jones, Ryan Church, John Raynor.
