TODAY'S HEADLINES

Good morning from 12-degree Pittsburgh. Please help us with our potholes. [WPXI]

Robert Morris sweeps #1 Miami: The Colonials are now 5-12-3 after another win over #1 Miami (OH) on Sunday.

D Denny Urban scored on a breakaway in the second period and G Brooks Ostergard made 38 saves to lead RMU to a 2-1 victory in Ohio. Big Ben and Stan Savran are undoubtedly beside themselves this morning. [Trib]

Pirates talking Church: The Buccos are in discussions with free agent OF Ryan Church, recently non-tendered by the Braves. Church hit .273 with four HR and 40 RBI in 111 games with Atlanta and the Mets in 2009.

Church is regarded as a probable platoon player with a contract that would not block Jose Tabata should he be ready for the bigs in 2010. Sadly, this probably signals the end of our flirtation with Rick Ankiel. [PBC Blog]

Pens get Wild: The Penguins travel to Minnesota for an 8 PM game with the Wild tonight, televised on Versus.

Brooks Orpik is not expected to play with an undisclosed injury. In other news, the Penguins' injury report is now written by Bill Belichick. [Empty Netters]

Competition for Khan: The Seahawks will interview former Titan GM Floyd Reese for their vacant post, which means another hat is thrown into the ring opposite Steeler executive Omar Khan.

On one hand, Reese drafted Steve McNair, Eddie George, and Jevon Kearse with the Titans. On the other hand, he felt Pac Man Jones was worthy of the sixth overall pick in 2005. [PFT]

Meet Jonathan Van Every: The 30-year-old OF is an early front-runner for Pirate underdog of the year. I haven't been this excited about a Bucco prospect since Kevin Polcovich. [Rum Bunter]

Stan went to Ohio U, not Miami.
