JOSE CASTILLO ATTACKED BY ARMED MEN ON MOTORCYCLES

Buried in a story about former MLB pitcher Victor Zambrano's mother being rescued from a recent kidnapping ordeal in Venezuela is this bit of information on former Pirate Jose Castillo:
Another former MLB player, Jose Castillo, was attacked by armed men on motorcycles as he left his luxury hotel in a taxi on Tuesday.

"They stopped the car and those accompanying them entered with two guns, and pointed them at me so that I'd give them my gold chain and wedding ring," Castillo said. Castillo, who played in MLB from 2004-08, plays for the Caracas Lions.
Castillo, a member of the Pirate organization from 1997-2007, was released by the Buccos in December of '07, after a very disappointing campaign where he mostly came off the bench and hit .244 with no home runs.

Since then, he's bounced around from Florida to San Francisco to Houston to Washington, where he failed to make the team out of training camp this season. Currently a member of the Caracas Lions of the Venezuelan League, Castillo also played for the Uni-President 7-Eleven Lions in the Chinese Professional Baseball League in Taiwan in 2009 and appears to be out of American baseball at the ripe age of 28.
