ESPN PODCAST: HOCKEY TALK. LOTS AND LOTS OF HOCKEY TALK.

This week, we're switching up the podcast schedule a little. I suggested we try taping a 'cast to kick off the week as opposed to concluding the week, and Mr. Dameshek granted my wish. I know, I live completely on the edge. So instead of previewing/predicting Games One and Two, which probably would have blown up in my face anyway given the results, Dave and I take a look back on the two games and try to analyze what the heck happened. Jordan, any suggestions?

There's lots of ground to cover in this episode. We butt heads over exactly how much blame should be laid at the doorstep of one Marc-Andre Fleury; the topic of officiating, especially how it fits into the grander scheme of things, is discussed at great length; and playing the optimist card, we take a look at what a Stanley Cup victory would mean to the already-spectacular sports landscape of the City of Champions. If you've never listen to a Mondesi's House/Dave Dameshek podcast, this would be a great place to start. Anytime we can hijack an ESPN production with rampant yet responsible Pittsburgh homerism, that's a recipe for fun.

All that and much more is in this week's podcast.

We have been here before and will be here again. We are down, but not out. We were beaten, but not defeated. We lost a couple battles, but not the war. Pick any cliche you like, they are all true. It is officially us against the world. According to them we are down and out. According to them, we have already lost. According to them, we can't. We are finally coming home to a hostile crowd, thirsty for a taste of what is to come, eager to prove that we can!

ooh ooh, me next!

...We shall fight on the beaches, we shall fight on the landing grounds, we shall fight in the fields and in the streets, we shall fight in the hills; we shall never surrender!...

I've got a Patton one too if Churchhill isn't doing it for ya.

Really, what's all the doom and gloom about? This is really no different than the Washington series. We lost the first two on the road while outplaying the other team(if only by a little this time). I don't remember a mass suicide at that point. Maybe a little worried at most. We won three straight and closed it out in seven on the road. We knew we were the better team all along. Tonight's game will tell how this series will play out.

I agree, tonight is the only game that matters right now.
