Some bad news just hit the Pitt Panthers football team, as playmaking WR Jonathan Baldwin was charged with indecent assault as well as summary harassment and a summary disorderly conduct. This stems from an alleged incident between Baldwin and a female student on a campus shuttle bus on April 19.

The 19-year-old sophomore-to-be will have a preliminary hearing on May 27. Pitt had no comment on the situation, as per a statement from athletic department spokesman E.J. Borghetti.

At 6'5", 220 pounds, Baldwin is a big part of the key to the Panther offense, contributing 18 receptions for 404 yards, an eye-popping 22.4 yards per catch. He reached the end zone three times in his freshman season as a Panther. Baldwin entered Pitt as's #6-ranked receiver in the country in his class, coming out of Aliquippa HS.

It's the latest in a disappointing off-the-field offseason for the Panthers. A pair of seniors, WR T.J. Porter and DT Tommie Duhart, were recently dismissed by the program.

Porter, who led the team in catches last year, was suspended indefinitely prior to spring drills following a February DUI arrest, his second DUI in less than a year. Porter was also arrested in May 2008 and was participating in a court-supervised rehabilitation program.

Duhart, who started three games in 2007 and played in seven in 2008, was suspended on April 7 for a violation of team policy, along with senior cornerback Aaron Berry and redshirt sophomore center Wayne Jones. He missed the first week of spring drills in 2008 due to academic requirements and frequently found his way to Dave Wannstedt's dog house, reports the Trib's Kevin Gorman.

Yeah, but that was still a sweet catch up at South Bend.
