PIRATES AUCTION FOR POLICE UNDERWAY

As promised, the Pittsburgh Pirates are auctioning off the unique uniforms that they wore at this year's victorious home opener against the Houston Astros. Also up for bid are worn and signed hats from the Astros, including Pudge Rodriguez, Carlos Lee, Lance Berkman, and Miguel Tejada.

The auction runs through April 22, and proceeds benefit the Fallen Heroes Fund. Currently, the highest bid belongs to the Zach Duke jersey and cap set, at $432.75. Duke threw a four-hit shutout in the opener before 38,000+ in attendance on Monday.

This is another great gesture by one of our town's professional sports teams in this time of tragedy, and comes on the heels of the Penguins and their fans raising over $100,000 for the fund last week at a home game of the Islanders. The Steelers have also announced that they will be collecting for the fund at the upcoming Fan Blitz on April 25.
