SCHMUCK IS TAUNTING YOU

The Baltimore Sun's Peter Schmuck is throwing down the gauntlet with Steeler Nation, and he pulls no punches in his latest blog entry:

There also seems to be a huge number of Steelers fans living in just about every major city, which says even more about their hometown. People used to joke that the city's marketing slogan was, "Cleveland, only better."

If Baltimore's motto used to be "Believe," Pittsburgh's should have been "I can't believe I'm still here."

And it goes on. As you could've guessed, Steeler fans took the bait in the site's comments section, but it's been relatively tame so far. We'll have to check back as the day goes on.

As a Pittsburgh fan who worked in the Baltimore area for a while, I can say Peter Schmuck is a decent writer - I always liked him. I'm not even mad about the Steeler fan baiting - after all, how else do we have a good rivalry?

Besides, given a choice between Baltimore and Pittsburgh, I'd choose Pittsburgh. Even been to Baltimore? The two cities don't COMPARE! Pittsburgh is better by far - less crime, better looking, more interesting - hands down winner. Baltimore sports columnists can't change that by talking trash like that. People left Pittsburgh because it couldn't afford us. People leave Baltimore because its scary. Anyways, I think you get the idea.

Starting with their name, "Ravens" fans have a lot to be proud of.

Taken from the Poem written by Edgar Allan Poe. Poe was not born in Baltimore, but their claim to fame is that he did there. Fitting for Baltimore, a good place to die.

Poe is a great guy to latch on to. A drunk who married his 13 year old cousin and falsified her age on the marriage certificate.

People left Pittsburgh because they began losing their jobs when the rest of America sold it out by importing metal goods from overseas.

would Edgar Allen Poe have even been a football fan?

I see him more likely to be cutting himself listening to My Chemical Romance in his parents' basement. Something along the lines of Todd from Wedding Crashers

If Baltimore could be reduced to the few blocks that make up the Inner Harbor area it would be a great city...I mean village.
