THE NEWS

--Pedro Alvarez has a Myspace page. And as per his "friend list", many female admirers.

--It's Tyrone Carter Fun Day in Pompano Beach, Florida! Will Tank be coming?
--The Pirates moved to 30-33, 1/2 game out of last place in the NL Central, with a 6-4 win over the Diamondbacks. Matt Capps is a perfect 14-for-14 in saves. What an amazing offensive display in this series: Diamondbacks 11, Pirates 10 in three games.
--The PG Empty Netters recapped the entire Penguins season.
--Slow news day? The Trib has an entire article devoted to Steelers WR Dallas Baker.
--Is Bill Cowher aware of the Bill Cosby "Cosby Show-Worn" Sweater Auction?

--Here's Yahoo's list of the 11 Coolest Helmets in Pro Football History. I'll give you one guess as to which team is first.
--Ron Cook makes the case for Phil Dumatrait being the Pirates' ace by default. And on the topic of Ron Cook, did anyone catch his appearance on that KDKA roundtable show at 11:30 last night? He was disagreeing with the rest of the panel on a Skip Bayless level.
--Sorry Boston Haters, but the Celtics held on for a 108-102 win over the Lake Show last night. Boston was nursing a 24-point lead with seven minutes to go, mostly because the suitcase with the Lakers' defense didn't make it from Los Angeles. But the Mamba and Company pulled it together and cut the defecit to four, only to be ultimately disappointed in front of a Boston crowd featuring Leonardo Dicaprio and Vince Young.

--Remembering the days when ESPN's Erin Andrews "graced hockey with her awesomeness".
--Just enter your zip code in this site, and it tells you which gas stations have the cheapest prices (and the highest) on gas in your zip code area. Although aren't they all high at this point?

Isn't it ironic that the "coolest helmet of all time" is incorrectly represented on that site. Either I'm on drugs this morning or the way it's situated, that should be the blank side.

Koz is right. The left side has no logo.

Also, using the "Plus 3" system described in the Erin Andrews article, I have her at a 12.8.
