Recapping a Busy Day

Today was one of those days when I wished I had a few clones. Just too much content and not enough time to cover it all. Those Jeff Reed pictures on Deadspin? I got the same anonymous email last night. No story, just five exquisite pics. But with all of the Pirate outrage, the breaking Ravenstahl controversy (which is looking worse and worse for him, by the way), and the anniversary of Large Benjamin's cycle crash, I already had too many plates spinning. Unfortunately, I'm just one guy.
So a few things had to wait until tonight. We'll start with the pictures of Skippy, for those of you who haven't yet seen them. What can I say? They're simply unreal.

Of course, I can't seem to go one post without mentioning the Pirates, so I had to add this photo and story sent to me from Pat S. of Pittsburgh:

This past weekend I was in New York and had the pleasure of sitting in the bleachers for Saturday's game. There's not really much more for me to say that hasn't been covered by just about everyone's emails to you, but I will add two things.

First: they don't serve alcohol in the bleachers at Yankee Stadium. It's probably a good idea, especially during a Boston series, but it made for a much worse experience for any Pirate fan. Roger Clemens cut through the Pirates lineup with a C-pitching performance and I had to be sober the whole time. It was right on par with getting a tooth drilled with no novocaine.

Secondly: From left to right - Half of my head, Ronnie Florian taking a picture of Tony Armas warming up in the bullpen, half of my girlfriend's head. I was going to ask him to take a picture with me so I wouldn't have to be sneaky, but after I heard him call four different people "brother" and say "I can't wait until the end of the year when the Bucs fire Littlefield..." I really didn't want to talk to him.

So it looks like the Ultimate Pirate Fan takes his act on the road, too. Mondesi's House is turning into a virtual "Where's Waldo" of Ronnie Florian. Where will he show up next? And what's with his overuse of the word "brother"? Has he turned into a 1980s Hulk Hogan before our eyes?

Skippy and Ronnie were merely an appetizer. I'm just a little backed up with tons of great stuff that you've sent in. Eventually, I'll get caught up. I know I owe you an incredibly long edition of "The News", and I'm trying to find the time for a mailbag at some point this week. So hang in there. And I'll definitely make sure we have another great contest prize next week for your incredible efforts.

And Jeff Reed is trying way too hard with that hair. The highlights are a bit much, cool cat.

Hey, on the Tribune Review's website, you can vote for Matt Capps entrance music.

I went with "Sabotage" by the Beastie Boys. I don't think anyone else uses it.

I was too distracted by the size of his nipples to notice the ridiculous hair!

I've never met Jeff Reed, he may in fact be a decent fellow. But I put it at 90-10 that he's a total dick.

Again, just going off of the cell phone pic/frosted tips/going around shirtless when he really shouldn't be.
