It's a match made in heaven: the NFL's most disappointing kicker joins one of its most disappointing teams today, as Jeff Reed signed with the 4-7 San Francisco 49ers.
Reed will be replacing Shane Andrus, who himself was replacing the injured Joe Nedney in San Fran. Andrus was shown the door earlier this week after missing two field goals on Monday night against Arizona, proving once again that kickers sure don't get a lot of leeway.
Reed was 15-of-22 with the Steelers this year for a success rate of 68%, lowest in the NFL and nearly 14% below his career average. He was 0-for-4 from 40-49 yards, notable in the fact that Shaun Suisham went 4-for-4 in Buffalo from the same range on Sunday. It remains to be seen how Suisham will hold up in Pittsburgh down the stretch and in colder weather, but so far, so good.
And as for Jeff Reed, enjoy him, San Francisco-area bloggers. The guy will never leave you short on material.

And if you drop your wallet be sure to kick it to LA before you bend down to pick it up.
HIS FLAMBOYANT HAIRDOS AND ODD BALL ANTICS WILL PLAY MUCH BETTER IN THE CASTRO DISTRICT THAN IT DID ON CARSON STREET.
