Steeler Notes: Polamalu on Jimmy Kimmel, Fan Exhibit at CMU, more

A few of the latest happenings in the Steeler universe:

-The TROY POLAMALU marketing machine plows on, with the latest vehicle coming in the form of a  taped bit for Jimmy Kimmel (above)

-MARK BRUENER, a Steeler TE from 1995-2003, has joined the team once again in the role of part-time scout. Bruener last suited up in the NFL in 2008 as a member of the Houston Texans.

-From today through Wednesday, Sept. 15, the Steelers' six Lombardi Trophies will be on display at the Heinz History Center. Viewing times are from 10:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. daily.

-ESPN has the Steelers a lowly 18th in their Week One Power Rankings.

-Fantasy nerds, take note: MIKE TOMLIN plans to use three running backs this season.

-Tomlin failed to guarantee the starting job of BEN ROETHLISBERGER once he comes back from his four-game suspension. Wait, what?

-MARK MADDEN dispels a few myths about Steeler QB Dennis Dixon.

-CMU is unveiling a new exhibit of Steeler "Fan Collections, Rituals, and Obsessions" at their Miller Gallery. This looks like it would be right up the alley of many an MH reader and runs through January 30.

Mark Bruener - how not to draft a first round pick.

I'm not scared of the minny vikes at #5, but it's nothing new for people at ESPN to oogle Brett's Favreness. Falcons at #7 is high, ain't it? I think they're more middle of the pack than that! Same with Chargers at #8, if they weren't in the AFC West, they'd struggle to win 8 games. And i think the Pats are due for a fall this season (no playoffs). ...and... Good Lord! We're ranked below the Redskins? I have no words for that. ...And two positions ahead of a team who's synopsis is basically "this team could be starting an undrafted rookie from BYU THIS season"?!?! Way to go 4 letter network, you've really outdone yourselves again. Nope, wait... "The Chiefs were picked by ESPN the magazine as division winners" Just when i think you're couldn't be any dumber, you go an write something like that!

Tomlin not guaranteeing Roethlisberger's job in game 5 had to go up Mark Madden's ass sideways! But i would have to agree with the supersized genius. THAT SHYT IS ABSO-F'N-LUTELY RIDICULOUS!
Can't argue with Madden's 5 misconceptiongs about De Double D either.

Mark Bruener was still playing two years ago??

Great blocking tight end BTW... but you don't draft blocking TEs in the first round.

I thought I read he said that about Leftwich (should he get healthy before Large Benjamin's return), not Ben. Maybe I read wrong, or maybe Tomlin was misquoted.

Tomlin's just talkin' tough. Everyone knows Ben will start but I think the coach thinks Ben needs to hear that sort of stuff either to motivate him or knock him down a peg.

Heath Miller was a 1st rd draft pick...bottom of the 1st rd but still 1st rd. I knew that Heath was gonna be a player and he would've gone higher if a groin injury didn't scare a few teams away (he was great in a bowl game vs. Pitt). The Jets traded their pick that year to the Raiders for some now-forgotten tight end.
