Charlie Batch to Start vs. Baltimore; Hoke Questionable

News and notes from the weekly Tomlin press conference...

CHARLIE BATCH will once again start at QB for the Steelers on Sunday. Batch has not started two consecutive games since the Super Bowl season of 2005, when he beat Green Bay and Cleveland in back-to-back weeks.

MIKE TOMLIN said that QB Byron Leftwich is healthy enough to play and will resume his role as the only backup Sunday.

Speculation that QB DENNIS DIXON will land on IR once Ben Roethlisberger comes back is just that for now - speculation.

DL CHRIS HOKE sprained the MCL in his right knee near the end of the game in Tampa and might be able to play this week. He is listed as questionable.

DL ZIGGY HOOD and S WILL ALLEN have sprained ankles but are expected to be fine by Sunday.

CB ANTHONY MADISON's hamstring injury should also be OK by gametime.

WR ANTONIO BROWN has the edge over WR Emmanuel Sanders for an active role on Sunday.

COACH TOMLIN praised a number of his own players, including Maurkice Pouncey, Doug Legursky, Dan Sepulveda, Jeff Reed, and William Gay.
