ROETHLISBERGER CASE DVDs RELEASED

As promised, the 50 DVDs available from the Ben Roethlisberger investigation in Georgia were released today, and they're already hitting the web.

I've heard some very good questions as to why this information is being released, and for that answer I'll turn it over to David E. Hudson, an attorney in Augusta and general counsel to the Georgia Press Association, who told this to the PG:
Release of the videotaped interviews is likely to strike many people as peculiar because Georgia's Sunshine Laws, put into place more than two decades ago, are so much broader than those of Pennsylvania and many other states.
"Here in Georgia, if the criminal investigation has concluded ... either verdict or decision by the [district attorney] not to prosecute, once that happens, the documents, and that includes recordings in the file, become public records," said David E. Hudson, an attorney in Augusta, and general counsel to the Georgia Press Association.
"The theory behind it is that it's so people can see for themselves if law enforcement did a proper job or was there a cover-up. Has the alleged defendant been treated too favorably or too harshly? If you're going to have public oversight of law enforcement, you really have to have access to the records."
Georgia's Sunshine Law states that, "All documents, papers, letters, maps, books, tapes, photographs, computer-based or -generated information, or similar material prepared and maintained or received in the course of the operation of a public office or agency" are public records.
Basically, it sounds like a form of checks and balances to keep everyone involved in an investigation on their toes and accountable to the public. Whether or not that's a good thing is sure to be a hot topic for debate, at least in these parts, for the very near future.

Okay so......... when I read WPXI's explanation of the "accuser"'s story, I begin to see how there were no charges brought.

I especially love how she states that the conversation wasn't of a sexual nature until she brings up that she and her innocent litle sorority sisters were having a SEX PARTY? Between that and the name tag, I don't find it hard to be baffled at how Big Mongoloid thought he could score with her.

And I was calling for Ben's head when this story first broke...

That was the most non-chalant, relaxed, calm and unconcerned rape victim of all time. I've seen high school kids, when giving their story, be WAAAAY more upset at the fact that someone got into their gym locker during class and stole the $5 they had for lunch!!! (No joke. I've had to help investigate that situation repeatedly.)

I believe this interview took place a few days after the alleged incident. If that were the case, she'd have had some time to collect herself.

That's possible, Nate. However, she is only 3 yrs older than the kids I mentioned in the gym class heist. Believe me, they were still pretty goddamn pissed about it a few days later.

Having $5 stolen from you and being raped probably cause 2 different types of emotions.

(For the record I don't think she was raped, just the comparison isn't really accurate.)

She seems to me like a girl who had sex with a guy and then regretted it since she'd be known as "the girl who had sex with Roethlisberger" to everyone on campus.

Clint:

Exactly the point I was making. They do cause different emotions, and she wasn't showing the kind of emotions a rape victim would normally show. In fact, the odd part was that the kids who had money stolen were more upset than she was, even though the severity of the two instances are worlds apart by any rational thought.

The point is: she lied, most likely bc of the reasons in your explanation.

In the video she says she was "up against the wall" when she was "raped". But in a different interview she said she was on the toilet.

She says the rape was a set-up and was planned all night, yet she was the one who followed Ben from bar to bar.

What a shame that she can get away with a bullshit rape accusation and ruin the lives of many innocent men. A Georgia police officer was fired over this!

Ok, look.

I'm kind of tired and I want to take a nap so I'm not going to sit through all of that video. But I have one question for those of you that did sit through the video...

Was she at least hot?

Please answer and if you need me I may be burning in hell.

Ok, I was kidding. I looked at the video on TMZ.

That was obviously an interview from a few days after the incident. Definitely didn't look like it had just happened, she's wearing totally different clothes than in the pictures I saw from the night on Deadspin.

That could partially explain the relative calmness.

Also on TMZ I saw Ben dancing poorly in a video, and learned that instead of talking to Oprah or Larry King, Big Ben's big sit down interview is gonna be with Bob Pompeani... pfffft. (I love Pomp by the way, that wasn't a knock on him.)

Oh, and I also learned that Eddie Van Halen's ex-wife is going to be in a new show about Cleveland.

So she's wearing a shirt that says DTF (Down to Fu*k) out to the clubs?

This is like a vegetarian wearing a shirt "I love hamburgers" and getting pissed off when someone hands her a hamburger at a picnic.
