ROETHLISBERGER ACCUSER'S WRITTEN STATEMENT, DOCUMENTS UNLOCKED

The written statements from Ben Roethlisberger's accuser and her friends were released today, and it's more of the same unflattering stuff we've sadly become accustomed to:
The accuser: "He said, Hey,' and he started talking to [redacted] (nothing in particular), and his bodyguards took him back to the 'room' w/ bathroom. I said, 'I don't know if this is a good idea,' and he said, 'It's OK.' He had sex w/me and meanwhile his bodyguards told my friends they couldn't pass them to get to me," the woman wrote in her statement.

Friend Nicole Biancofiore said the woman "was dragged by a bodyguard to the back room in Capital. She was extremely intoxicated and not aware of what was happening."

Ms. Biancofiore said she saw another friend, Aliesha Scholten, try to open the locked bathroom door, but "she was taken away by a bodyguard of Ben's."

A third friend, Ann Marie Lubatti, told police, that she "approached the other security guard and told him that she [the accuser] was in no shape to be back there with Ben Roethlisberger. He couldn't look me in the eye, and told me he didn't know what was going on. My friend went to open the door, and it was locked."
In addition to Roethlisberger, this really paints the bodyguards in an equally unflattering light. I'm amazed that we haven't read or heard more about these guys to this point.

As for the Rooney press conference, the Steelers announced that they will be handing out the discipline in this case (it could be a max of four games under the CBA), and Rooney also added that the Steelers have not talked to other teams about a trade for the troubled QB. It was nice lip service, but the organization's words and actions have become very confusing in disciplinary matters, to say the least. Correct me if I'm wrong, but did they not just reward Jeff Reed's bad decisions with a new contract recently? They're walking a fine line between wanting to win and wanting to sell their brand. From an outsider's point of view, I don't know what to believe anymore.

The full text of Rooney's statement can be seen here.

so here's what i gather:

1) League won't punish ben (info for other teams)

2) The punishment will be announced AFTER the draft

sounds like a way to shop a trade for your qb without actually shopping him...

Sorry, but there is a big difference between Jeff Reed's antics, Santonio's weed and Rape. In my opinion Ben should have been the first one run out of town. Unfortunately for Tone it was a third strike. The more that comes out about Ben the more I want him out of a Steeler uniform.

I trashed my last comment because I reread it and it totally didn't come out like what I was trying to say.

But it short: I don't think it was rape, but it was very close. I do think it was a downright shitty thing to do. What 28-year-old (so called) man feels the need to take advantage of insanely drunk, 20-year-old college girls?

What a creep...this guy disgusts me. I really wish he would get tossed out of town b/c I'll never root for the Steelers or look at them the same way again. Reading this made me ill.

It does make you wonder if the Coraopolis Police Department and state police are looking into the matter.

I would trade 11 Big Bens for a Mark Malone and a Bubby Brister.

Seriously, does anyone want to trade a Mark Malone and a Bubby Brister for 11 Big Ben sports cards?

From Deadspin:

Yes, if you read the url, you know what you're in store for if you click that link.

I find it interesting that Deadspin actually provided a statement from someone in Ben's party. I've seen no other 'real' news organization mention that.

This has been a hot topic (of course) at work, and one thing kind of dawned on me today. Every and any opposing defensive players with daughters or sisters or any kind of women in their life will pretty much be teeing off on Ben when they get a chance to hit him. As if they didn't have reason to before, but this really puts a target on his head.

I think the concussions are going to come fast and furious. He'll be lucky to make it to the age of 30 as an NFL quarterback

I don't, or want to want to come across as a defender of Ben's actions.

That said, some of these comments are bullshit to the highest degree. Like it or not, the facts are:

* They are not going to trade him. No way, no how.

* If you are not going to 'cheer' for the Steelers because of who is quarterback, you likely are deluded or never 'cheered' for them in the first place.

* To think that "any opposing defensive players with daughters or sisters or any kind of women in their life will pretty much be teeing off on Ben" is the thought of kids that used to play D&D and nearly lose their lives.

I get the hate for the guy right now, and he deserves all of it, but some of the comments are comical.

I would also like to see the Steeler fan that gives up his season tickets due to such 'disgust', and/or the lines of folks that refuse them when offered those same tickets.

I wouldnt consider giving up my tix b/c of this no way no how. As a matter of fact ill be pissd if they trade him or even entertain it. I doubt many people want to wait another 25 yrs for another Superbowl. If you saw the chicks handwritting, you know how blasted she was, it looked like a toddler wrote the report. I bannana could have been sticking out of her ear and she probably wouldnt have noticed it or remembered it so I take her accusations with a grain of salt

nick, is it okay to rape a girl who is "blasted"? underage girl who got booze from BR?

the first one, i think the majority of people realize, was a money grab. yes, number 2 was drunk, but day after day these new accounts come out about that night. something happened against her will. his statement was a joke, and so is he.

if he retired today, i still say he should be put into the hall when you look at all the stats, clutch games, and overall winning. but he has done so much damage in terms of image because hes the qb that i wouldnt care if he was traded. truly a disappointment.

It's never okay to rape a girl, but if one is wearing a name tag with the letters DTF, you think she was quoting scripture between shots?
