CAPS LOSE, PENS GET CANADIENS

With the Washington Capitals choking their way to golf season, the Pittsburgh Penguins will now face the hockey version of David, the Montreal Canadiens, in a best-of-seven series, with the first game being held at the Igloo on Friday night.

When considering the combination of favorite son Sidney Crosby returning to Canada, a red-hot goalie in  Montreal's Jaroslav Halak, and the matchup of an eight-seed against the defending champs, and I think the country of Canada may self-combust in anticipation. Something tells me the city of Pittsburgh will be pretty fired up, too.

The full slate of games in the series:

I wonder how prevalent the chants of "Crosby sucks" will be up in Montreal...

Did someone say "Ovie-rated"?

Love the photoshopped picture too.

I don't think this is what Leonsis had in mind when he penned his "We have Arrived" blog post in February, huh?

A great player can win a game, a great team can win any series....

I have to question how brilliant of a coach Boudreau really is at this point. He certainly can't harness their focus nor get the most out of his players.

The Caps remind me of the Pens teams from 94ish until Jagr was traded to Washington. They had tons of offensive firepower and could run-and-gun with anybody but they always fizzled out in the playoffs because you need:
1) A franchise goaltender
2) Two-way commitment from ALL your big players because you need to do all that hard garbagework in order to survive in the playoffs.

When I saw Ovie, in the biggest game of his season, just standing at the blue line waiting for people to feed him the puck, I knew they were sunk.

Hahaha, love the photoshop! Also loving that the Caps got bounced in a game seven for the third year in a row!!! (All at home too!)

I wonder if the Caps have trademarked the phrase, "We blow 3-1 leads," or "Nobody is better at losing Game 7's than us!"
