I must admit, I didn't see this one coming. Many outlets are reporting that Ryan Clark will be back with the Steelers on a four-year deal, despite his presence in Miami today.
This is a good move for both sides; Clark was a good fit in the Steeler defense, and his presence allows the Steelers more flexibility in the draft. It also allows the team to use Will Allen in more of a depth role (which he's better-suited for) as opposed to making him a starter.
In the same vein that the Randle-El and Battle signings were bad news for Limas Sweed, this probably means the end of the road for Tyrone Carter as a Steeler. We'll always have Tank...and Tyrone's kill-shot on Greg Olsen last year:

After today's action, the remaining Steeler UFAs are as follows: QB Charlie Batch, LB Rocky Boiman, DE Nick Eason, DE Travis Kirschke, RB Willie Parker, CB Deshea Townsend, WR Joey Galloway, and Carter.

Wow, I am surprised by their level of activity in free agency. My count is;
1. Ryan Clark
2. Antwaan Randel El
3. Arnez Battle
4. Jonathan Scott
5. Will Allen
Possibly Larry Foote or Travis Kirschke. Perhaps both.
I suspect a safety, defensive end, defensive tackle and offensive tackle will be taken in the early rounds of the draft.
You may now resume your discussion of all things Ben.
What's the deal with Leigh Bodden?
Weren't we interested in him as well?
I can't believe this.
Having Randle El back would be nice as would Larry Foote for depth.
Maybe El was signed to play quarterback if Big Ben goes to the pokey.
(I believe this is the first time in my life that I've referred to jail as "the pokey".)
Maybe we should look at bringing in Jake Delhomme for a season.
Ben is either going to be in the clink, suspended, or both by next season. If the league doesn't punish him, the Rooneys should without a doubt put his @$$ in a sling.
Honestly when that guy isn't lacing up for us on Sundays, i could care less what happens to him. He is clearly an arrogant, low life moron. I think the profile of that scumbag attorney he hired is a very telling sign.
Sorry Ben, you have won us a lot of games, but the Steeler Nation shouldn't tolerate this garbage. This has got to be the last straw. It's embarassing, we used to pride ourselves on knocking the Ravens and Bengals for employing street trash.
Personally, I want the Steelers to make a play for Marc Bulger.
Local guy, former Pro Bowler, hungry for a championship, never accused of being a serial rapist... All qualities I'd like to see in our next QB. And he's white so 50% of Steeler fans won't have to automatically hate him like they would if Dennis Dixon were named starter.
BurressWithButterflyWings...
It's too tough to single out which point of yours is more asinine, the statement to cut ties with Ben or the call to bring in Jake Delhomme.
I'm assuming you follow the Steelers if you read this blog, but please don't ever call yourself a "fan."
Well, if being a Steeler fan condones serial rape, then a fan I surely am not.
However, since you are omniscient in all things football, what do you suggest the Steelers would do without Ben's services next season, should that become the case?
