STEELERS SIGN GRAESSLE, LONDON

The Steelers made a minor move of local interest today, signing former Pitt punter Adam Graessle to their offseason roster.

After going undrafted, Graessle was signed by the Green Bay Packers last year but was released prior to training camp. He ended up punting for the California Redwoods of the UFL, playing for the one and only Dennis Green and averaging 40.2 yards per punt. He will be training camp depth with incumbent punter Daniel Sepulveda not going anywhere.

In addition to Graessle, the Steelers also signed former Dolphins WR Brandon London today. London spent 2007 on the practice squad of the Super Bowl champion New York Giants, which means he is the proud owner of a Super Bowl ring. He spent 2008 with the Dolphins, appearing in 14 games and starting one, and was cut by the team before the 2009 season.

London is the son of new Virginia coach Mike London, so I would assume he's coachable. Nonetheless, he'll be facing long odds if he wants to crack the 53-man of this squad.

The photo in this post shows Graessle Kicking off. He is a combo guy but mainly a punter. Any chance if they keep Jeff Reed they would WASTE a roster spot on a guy who can kick the ball deep? Hope not but he may have been brought in for more than training camp depth at punter.
