PENN STATE MASCOT ARRESTED, QUESTIONABLE FOR ROSE BOWL

2008 has been somewhat of a roller coaster ride for the Penn State Nittany Lions football program. There's been ups (a run to a possible national championship), downs (Iowa ruining that possibility), recruiting battles lost (Terrelle Pryor), arrests, their very own episode of Outside the Lines and the ongoing saga of Joe Paterno.

But today's news would probably fall into the 'bad' category: the PSU senior who plays the Nittany Lion just got arrested for a DUI. And his status for the Rose Bowl is up in the air. Yes, it's true:

James Sheep was pulled over on campus around 3:15 a.m. on Nov. 22, hours before Penn State's 49-18 win over Michigan State, University Police Capt. Bill Moerschbacher said Monday.

The officer who made the stop saw that the vehicle was overloaded, with passengers piled onto each other and blocking the driver's view.

Is there a reason why mascots seem to have a problem with this specific offense? Don't forget, earlier this year, one of the men who portrays Steely McBeam was arrested for a DUI.

A Sheep dressed as a lion? There are deeper issues going on in this kid's life.

I know James Sheep, had some broadcast journalism classes with him last year. All in all, he's a pretty good guy, but obviously big mistake here. Definitely letting Steve Jones down.

Well at least he didn't shoot himself in the thigh. Or shoot his eye out.

I think this will cost Penn State Rose Bowl focus.
