It's about time we throw some love to the backup goaltender (who happens to be tonight's starter), Dany Sabourin. The man who was all but forgotten once a certain Conklin won his way into our hearts last season has been red-hot when called upon in 2008-09, to the tune of a 3-1 record, 1.68 goals-against, .942 save percentage, and the biggie, stopping an unheard of 13 of 14 shootout attempts. Yowza. I have to admit, I never saw that coming, even if it's a relatively small sample size.
The Pens are expected to recall goalie John Curry from Wilkes-Barre to back up Sabourin for their 7:08 game with Minnesota (10-4-1) tonight. A six-game winning streak is on the line.
Win or lose, we'll probably have a new fight between Derek Boogaard and Eric Godard to post tomorrow. As the Empty Netters point out (with lots of video evidence), the two have just a bit of history.
