Stop! Thief!

Wondering what former Penguin Tom Kostopoulos was up to? Me neither. But apparently Dr. K. is a Montreal Canadien who is quite skilled in the fine art of resisting arrest.
Kostopoulos, who was doing charity work at a Tampa nightclub on Sunday night, got into trouble while hanging out with teammate/alleged purse thief Ryan O'Byrne, a 23-year-old rookie defenseman.

Assuming the "rookies being rookies" defense didn't fly, O'Byrne was charged with felony grand theft and released after posting $2,000 bail. Kostopoulos faces a misdemeanor count of resisting an officer without violence and was freed on $500 bail.
So why did they do it? My first guess would be to keep the NHL in the headlines, much like Roger Clemens and Bill Belichick have done for their respective sports. If all goes well, here's hoping that Roger Cossack will appear on ESPN for the 859th consective day to discuss an athlete's arrest and what will happen next.
