The News

  • I'll be away through next week, so the site is in my brother's hands from Monday through Friday. Play nice with him. I don't want to get any bad reports.
  • For those of you asking: the numerous Mondesi's House fantasy football leagues will be organizing the week of August 20th. More details to follow. And yes, all leagues will have a nice prize for the respective champ.
  • Now let's talk some sports. Who is the least popular addition to the Steelers this year: Steely McBeam or Lawrence Timmons?
  • Anyone else catch that PacMan Jones interview this morning? I loved his recap of his trip to the strip club the night before he met with the Principal. "I was just going there to eat."
  • Have you heard about the Barry Bonds movie? It's called Asterisks Are Forever, and it stars Don Cheadle, Mekhi Phifer, and Michael Clarke Duncan as Barry Bonds at different stages of his career.
  • This just in: Nate Washington has problems catching the football, usually a vital task for a professional pass catcher.
  • Game Manager Ben Roethlisberger ranks 6th on Pro Football Talk's list of fantasy QBs this year. And Fleet William Parker ranks #3 on their list of RBs.
  • Wondering how Dave Littlefield spent the trade deadline? Here's his diary.
  • I'm a little late on this, but you really should check out this list of the Top 25 lines from the Penguins' Against the Odds 1991-92 Stanley Cup video.
  • An article suggesting how to fix the Pirates sounded intriguing. Unfortunately, they lost me at point #1, which would be the mention of Mark Cuban as CEO. Give it up, folks.
  • With all the TV shows and films in the area, Pittsburgh is turning into the new Hollywood.
  • Here's a nice, neat map of all Terrelle Pryor's games this season.
  • Meet Karnesha Nantz, or as MSNBC calls her, a "life saving exotic dancer"
  • There's still time to sign up for ESPN 1250's Fantasy Football Camp on August 26th.

"Adam:

I'll only walk you through this once, so pay attention.

The genius of my post is that I didn't read his. I only looked at the portion that was visible while I clicked the comment link.

Now get back to "Dungeons and Dragons."

And, yes, you're back on suspension. Indefinite this time. Not so much for the Pitt comment, but for the incessant rambling. No one cares."

Cecil, Cecil, Cecil. First of all. What is dungeons and dragons? I've never seen it. and second, I don't know how me defending the steelers against a browns fan can make you mad. Please, putting me on "suspension".

Now on to Steely McBeam. Give the Pirates credit. As much as I hate all the friggen mascots this team has, at least none of the names suck as bad as Steely McBeam. Jolly Roger at least makes sense

The only solution to the McBeam problem is to boo him incessantly where ever he appears. Eventually, they'll realize what a total failure it was and ship him back to Edgar Thompson.

Cecil alluded to it earlier.

And I second the notion to bring back the Terrible Fan!

Did anyone see Poz completely OWN tyler plako tonight in that preseason game?

WE ARE!!!!!! PENN STATE!!!!!

Hmm. Looking through this post, I don't see any mention of Pitt or Penn State. Not a one. And with the comments above, Adam further becomes a caricature of himself.

Who cares? That was a stand up and cheer moment. I'm sorry I broke the holy rules of comments and talked about something not in the post.

Did you see Palko throw that touchdown pass. O WOW IT WAS AMAZING!! I am a fan of Pitt and therefor anything a former player does in a preseason game is somehow awesome. I didn't just stand up and cheer I threw a friggin party. HELL YEA GO PALKO!

Yea your right. Throwing a TD pass and 2 picks while getting planted 3 ft. underground by a Penn St. product sounds about what a Pitt fan should get excited about for a former player.

GO State.

To fix the Pirates they should reassign Littlefield? How in the world could they keep him in the organization? He should be put on his own island where he can't hurt the rest of civilization. The man couldn't even manage a McDonalds.

It's not the fact you didn't talk about something in the post. It's the fact that you once again brought up Penn State in a post that had nothing to do about it. This wasn't a first time thing, it's a common occurrence and you deserve all the criticism you get for it.

In case you didn't realize, he was making fun of you.

He has sales experience, but he's not good at finding a good price for his products. You'd be able to buy a Big Mac for 3 cents and a thumbtack off of him.

I know he was making fun of me, and he did a poor job if it. I was pointing that out, in case you didn't notice.

Palko Sucks, Poz rules. Make fun of the facts all you want.

I'm not saying sorry for bringing up Penn St. either. In fact, I'm going to rub it in your faces now that we've signed two 4 star tailbacks in as many weeks, including the #5 RB in the country. Can't wait to sign Pryor, aka the next guy to commit to Pitt only to blow them off for the real football team in Pennsylvania.

20 days till kickoff!

Go State.

Wow great fact work right there, you really proved your point. If you watched the game know the first pick clearly wasn't Palko's fault. And did you really get excited about that sack? He came in entirely unblocked and managed to tackle a qb looking to throw deep on the play. Seriously I see how your facts work now, that really shows how great of a player he is. He can execute a delay blitz, shed 0 blockers, then tackle a quarterback. Thats really showing great skills on the play. Palko more than likely is making the saints roster so I am not sure how much he sucks, but it must be enough to make an NFL team.

And we have our own freshman 4 star running back, thanks. And what the hell are you talking about Pryor never committed to Pitt, are you just making stuff up now? Hopefully he goes to that "real" football team in Pennsylvania, that one that is projected to finish 4th in their conference. Wait which is that?

Pryor's going to Temple?

How many awards did Palko win?

ZERO

How many did Poz Win?

Too numerous to name, but they included All Big Ten, All American, Bednarik, Butkus.

How many BCS games did Poz win, and How many did Palko win? 0 and 1

Where was Poz picked, and where was Palko picked?

O that right. Palko wasnt.

Those are the facts I speak of my friend, not the things that happened in the game. That sack was merely a peep into what would happen if we were to play Pitt.

As for Pryor, its common knowlege that he committed verbally to Pitt as a sophmore, only to regain his senses. Now Pitt is off the list, and PSU is still there, and considered a front runner, as He'd have the opportunity to star there, seeing as our basketball team sucks. It would be much harder to crack the starting lineup at OSU or Texas after being consumed by football until January.

I guess Palko had the same talent around him as Posluszny did. Awards to numerous to name? You can't count/name 4, that is pretty bad. And that BCS bowl really shows considering Posluszny won the game all by himself right. PSU played an 8-4 FSU team with Drew Weatherford at QB and still needed a missed field goal to give them the opportunity to win. Pitt played an undefeated Utah team with the eventual #1 overall pick at QB. One more thing how many knee ligaments did Palko tear in his career?

And I am sure that sack really shows what would happen if PSU played Pitt. Considering you have no idea what would happen since they don't play each other. But that isn't Penn States fault right?

You know how iron clad those verbal commitments are, they aren't even considered solid. That is hardly committing and backing out, and way to completely speculate on his decision then act like it makes your school a front runner.
