Join Us for the Umbel Scholarship Auction at Nemacolin Woodlands Resort

This weekend, I'll be venturing to the palatial location of Nemacolin Woodlands Resort for the annual Tim Umbel Scholarship Auction, to be held Saturday night at 7 PM at their Sundial Ski Lodge.

This was a tremendously fun event to participate in last year, and I'm really looking forward to this Saturday's festivities. There will be ample food and drink, a DJ, TVs showing all the big games of the night, and an enormous silent auction loaded with signed memorabilia from your Pittsburgh sports heroes, with proceeds benefiting the Tim Umbel Scholarship Fund. 

I can assure you that this is not a boring, buttoned-down, black-tie auction. It's a really fun, young crowd and a great atmosphere, with items up for bidding that will fit everyone's budget. I'm especially counting on our sizable Fayette County contingent to drop by. 

Admission is free, so if you're available, please join us for a few hours on Saturday in the name of a very good cause.

NEMACOLIN WOODLANDS RESORT "BEST GOLF TRIP STORY" FINAL FIVE

We're down to the five finalists for the Mondesi's House/Nemacolin Woodlands Resort "Best Golf Trip Story" Contest, as selected by a panel of judges from the resort. At this point, it's your turn to be the judge - so as always, vote responsibly.

We've done contests before on this site, and they've all been exciting. But I think it's safe to say that this contest is taking it to another level.

Nemacolin Woodlands Resort, the world-famous, five-star treasure nestled in the Laurel Mountains, has offered up the following prize package to the winner of this contest:

-Luxury accommodations for two nights

-Breakfast for two mornings

-One round of golf for two on The Links

-One round of golf for two at Mystic Rock

So what do you have to do for this prize? Well, for something this good, it's going to require a little effort. This contest is going to center on golf trips. 

One of the joys of life is getting together with some friends and spending a long weekend teeing off, relaxing, and having a good time in the natural surroundings of a golf course. So for this contest, the sponsors at Nemacolin told me that they'd like to find the greatest "golf trip story" out there. I'll stop short of saying pictures of said trip are required, but they are highly encouraged. Knowing you guys like I think I do, I'm sure we'll be able to unearth a few gems.

All entries must be sent to birds.of.a.feather@nemacolin.com (with "Golf Trip Story" in the subject line) where a panel of judges from the resort will choose the five best entries as finalists. From there, we will reveal the final five, and they will be put to a public vote on Mondesi's House - with YOU deciding what the ultimate golf trip story is.

Here are the ground rules:
-Entries must be received by May 19, 2010, at 11:59 p.m EST.
-Judging will then take place on the "Final Five" by a panel.
-The "Final Five" will be put to a public vote, starting May 24 and concluding May 27 at 11:59 p.m. EST.
