The guy missed a 52 yarder...rather badly, but it was a really low-percentage kick. Had he made it, all other things held constant, we still would have lost by 3. He made his only other attempt of the Super Bowl and got two touchbacks out of his kickoffs. I think he played a good game, and he's not exactly the reason we lost. Getting younger there wouldn't be a bad idea, but I don't think it's a priority either.

As for this season, the Steelers couldn't put together 60 minutes of good football all throughout the postseason. They finally ran into a team that could make them pay for that, unfortunately.Natehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07565979944355875510noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-29893900.post-83793479231391826322011-02-07T12:43:13.827-05:002011-02-07T12:43:13.827-05:00I don't question decision to kick the 52 yd FG...I don't question decision to kick the 52 yd FG AT ALL. They needed points at that time & gotta take what you can get... what i do question is how Suisham could miss that badly? (He ALMOST missed the PAT before that FG attempt, mind you) Everyone is just calling it a 'peculiar decison' because he missed. To quote Herm Edwards, "You play to win the game"

Also, did anyone else notice that Mike Wallace was turned around looking at the ball on that pick-six? He was looking at the ball!!! F*@# why didn't he come back and try to catch it?!?!? Instead he just ran off the screen. Totally mind blowing.

@ AJ - i agree... i HATE watching Kemoeatu make stupid play after stupid play. I wouldn't mind seeing him gone, except that we have NO ONE better than him. We need to fix RG first (either through the draft or with Legursky {though Legursky is a liability in pass coverage}) because as bad as Kemo is, Essex is worse. Flozell did have a very good season. Maybe next season we keep Flozell at RT, bump Colon in to RG and draft someone to put Kemo on the streets? Though, in that scenario, we'd also need someone to replace Flozell at any time.

@ Matt M - Totally agree... it's weird that i'm not more upset, but i'm not. We lost to a good team, full of good guys, and shot ourselves in the foot all night.

For all of the Stillers missed opportunities/turnovers, how many dropped passes did the Packers have? And did anyone else think that Jordy Nelson had 20 receptions? Ick, we need cornerbacks for next year, and Ike StoneHands is gonna be expensive.

No one is going to mention the crappy super bowl commercials? Aside from the Darth Vader Kid/VW commercial, i don't think there was one single commercial that i didn't groan at the conclusion of. That Adrian Brody Stell Artois commercial... TERRIBLE. Ozzy and Beiber commercial... SACRELIGIOUS/TERRIBLE. Though i had an unbelievable urge for Pepsi and Doritos at lunch today... not sure why?

Also, could the Black Eyed Peas performance have sounded any worse? Fergie can sing AT ALL, and apparently the rest of the peas are even worse than she is. Why did she have to sing Sweet Child like Axle? Why did they have to cover that at all? Isn't the point, as an established 'band', of doing someone else's song to add your own flavor? I guess when your flavor is crap & vag sweat, you might as well do your darndest to impersonate the original artist.

Somehow i'm much more p*ssed off by the commercials/halftime entertainment than i am by the outcome of the game... and i didn't even see that ho-bag mess up the national anthem in the pre-game!HomeRunFromBehindTheMeatballshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09153804542539188315noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-29893900.post-72052072108685355442011-02-07T11:45:00.425-05:002011-02-07T11:45:00.425-05:00Happy to see the general consensus is most people ...Happy to see the general consensus is most people are content and not too upset. I thought the same thing last night and this morning, and it felt weird, like I wanted to be more disappointed.

I think, looking back on it, it's not so much why or how the Steelers lost, but they lost to the Packers. Who can hate the Packers? It's like a mirror image of the Steelers franchise. Plus, it doesn't hurt to remember that we as fans are pretty damn spoiled. Two Super Bowls and a Stanley Cup in a six year span? Still better than 99% of cities out there.

Oh, and as a friend of mine said last night: Could be worse....could be a Seahawks fan...or a Bills fan...or a Browns fan.Matt M.https://www.blogger.com/profile/15591382520741322024noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-29893900.post-1008065533245786002011-02-07T11:15:32.168-05:002011-02-07T11:15:32.168-05:00Nothing really to be that upset about. It was the ...Nothing really to be that upset about. It was the turnovers that killed the Steelers. It was upsetting that our D couldn't find a way to make any impact in this game.

For next season (whenever that may be), I'd say our special teams should be a prime focus. Suisham was a nice band-aid to stop Reed's bleeding, but he's not a long term answer. Sepulveda is pretty much a bust at this point. They used a rather ridiculously high draft pick for a punter, and the guy just isn't that kind of weapon. At best he's a serviceable NFL punter. At worst, he's lucky to make it out of October without ending up on the DL. I say cut bait and find some consistency at both kicking positions.

The O-line still needs to be a focus too. Chris Kemoeatu is awful. Flozell was better than anticipated and I think was an improvement over Willie Colon, but he'll probably be gone.

And... lets' go Bucs?AJhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11301996830494946252noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-29893900.post-28840996942978166142011-02-07T11:07:51.289-05:002011-02-07T11:07:51.289-05:00Totally disagree with your opening statement. I'd rather miss the playoffs.

It's stunning this team almost won the Super Bowl considering they played 6 good quarters of football out of 12 in the playoffs. Although I am finding their fans a bit 'douchey' on various forums.

I have to agree with the Real McCoy those two special teams gaffes made a huge difference. Keyaron Fox should know better.

Also, I cannot let Ben's performance go unnoticed. He did not have a "top 5" kind of game. His interceptions were costly and his choice to hold the ball and take the only sack was poor - he will not throw the ball away.

Capers was smart. He kept Ben in the pocket and let him try to make the throws. His accuracy was awful until the 4th quarter.

Losing Manny Sanders did not help at all, but Randel El had a good game.

Thanks for a great season Steelers! Especially Fox. He is the special teams Captain and putting his team 15 yards farther behind the 8 ball to start the final drive is no way of showing leadership.
